Over the week ending on 3rd June, Wigan recorded 432 positive Covid-19 tests which was 192 more than the previous week.
COVID-19 infection rates saw a significant rise in the past week in all boroughs of Greater Manchester except Bolton.
Cases in the area have rocketed with five boroughs seeing an increase of more than 100%.
Stockport, Salford, and Manchester were among the top five areas in the country which have seen the biggest week-on-week rise in infections.
Bolton saw a fall in cases for the week but it still has the second-highest rate in England, with 319.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending June 3.
Wigan’s infection rate is now 131.4 cases per 100,000 population.
