Wigan MMA Fighter Suffers Split Decision Loss At UFC 262

Mike Grundy said he felt “gutted” after his loss to Lando Vannata in the early hours of Sunday Morning.

The 34-year-old from Wigan suffered his third career loss after a hard-fought match up which was his third fight in the UFC.

The featherweight who has a background in freestyle wrestling winning a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, was unsuccessful in his takedown attempts on the American.


The fight went to a decision with one judge scoring the fight 30-27 in Grundy’s favour, unfortunately, the other two judges were in favour of Vannata with scores of 29-28 and 30-27.

He posted on social media after the fight to thank his team:

“I want to thank everyone for their support it has been phenomenal. Thank you to my coach and all who help me out so much.

“A tough pill to swallow I’m gutted and there’s no one more harder on me than me I’m just ready to get home to my family.”
