Wigan North Western’s lifts are finally reopened to the public following damage from Storm Christoph.
A Wigan Council spokesman said:
“Network Rail has announced that both lifts at Wigan North Western station have reopened to passengers after work to install protective scaffolding has been completed.
“The lifts were damaged during Storm Cristoph in January, which caused water to leak onto mechanical equipment.
“The scaffolding will help to protect the lifts from further weather damage while we carry out permanent repairs to the lift shaft buildings.
“Vitally this means we can keep the lifts open and maintain step-free access for passengers at Wigan North Western station.”
